Sofa in gray velvet, Provencal Style, 21st century - France
Wonderful Louis XV style sofa, reflecting the elegant country life in France during the 19th century. Wooden structure, completed with metal bed base. The wood has been richly carved and cerused. Cerusa is a craft technique that consists of excavating the grains of the wood and decorating them with white wax to highlight the decorative motifs. This grayish polychrome achieves a pleasant antique effect.
This sofa follows the lines of the Louis XV style, as demonstrated by its cabriole legs, which give the piece a romantic touch, as well as the cut skirt and armrest. The backrest is fabric attached to the wooden structure, allowing the buyer to easily update the look. The dove gray upholstery is velvet and due to its use it has some stains, it would be advisable to reupholster it.
The Provencal Style, which has its origin in the Provence region, southeast of France, is characterized by its rustic and romantic appearance.
